TRADITIONAL FIJAKER (CABS)
BLEJSKI FIJAKERJI
Fijakerji or cabs are open carriages with a long tradition in Bled. Initially, they drove pilgrims, and after the railway construction they transferred guests from the railway station to the desired destinations in Bled. Today, the cabs are a very popular tourist attraction and a must do activity in Bled.
Tradition
Not anyone can become a driver of a traditional Bled carriage as the »profession« is handed down from generation to generation. The son inherited the profession from his father his father inherited it from his father and so on.. This is precisely why the members of the local Bled cabs association make effort to keep the tradition going. You can also recognise them by their unique clothing which consists of a black sweater, black trousers and black hat, white shirt and a vest with the embroidered Gorenjska region carnations in claret colour.
Experience
You will find a barn with our carriage horses on the property, you may even spot them grazing the grass - they will be happy to greet you if you bring them a carrot or two ;)
Drive around the lake or to Bled Castle, explore the picturesque villages in a traditional way – in a horse-driven carriage directly from our apartments. Feel the spirit of the past, when there were no modern means of transport.
